ANNIVERSARY

Wow, where does the time go?

In 2008, we celebrated our 30 anniversary of the University of Wyoming Campus Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Club in Laramie. I actually established that club in 1978.

This year (2009), I have a few more anniversaries.
In 1964, I began training in Kyokushinkai karate at the Black Eagle Federation dojo in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is my 45 anniversary in martial arts.

In 1969, I began teaching karate at the University of Utah Shotokan Club ? This is my 40 anniversary
teaching martial arts.

In 1999, I was appointed the Sokeshodai of
Seiyo No Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai ? This is my 10th anniversary as Soke (Grandmaster).

And of course, 1999, Seiyo No Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai was officially recognized and created ? thus this is the 10th Anniversary of Seiyo Shorin-Ryu.

Over the years I really enjoyed teaching at 4 major universities as we put 4000+ students through our programs and we now have students all
over the world who are geologists, artists, writers, astronomers, biologists, zoologists, law enforcement agents, linguists, civil engineers, electrical engineers, petroleum engineers, mechanical engineers, teachers, professors and physicists.

In 2008, we decided to open a
Hombu training center in Mesa at 60 W. Baseline. We made this dojo look as traditional as possible on the inside and we want to invite everyone to stop by to talk about martial arts or other things of interest.

I am also a geologist and hunt for gemstones. SO rock hounds are very welcome to stop by. I sketch ? this is something I accidentally discovered I could do in 1990. So I?m looking to meet some artists in the Phoenix valley. I write and recently completed another book on gemstones ? so our hombu is a multi-faceted training center and we look to meet many new friends.

At the dojo, we teach traditional karate and kobudo for adults. We added a
kids karate program and we hope to see many of the ladies in the area stop by for self-defense training . No woman in the Phoenix valley should be without self-defense training ? it is too dangerous here.
